The Bhamla Lab of Extraordinary Organisms

The Bhamla Lab is a group of biologists, physicists, and engineers, who have built a research program around a single feeling: curiosity.

This lab studies anything and everything - from the trajectory of insect pee to the construction of low-cost hearing aids to the movement dynamics of worm blobs. As long as a question is compelling, it’s fair game for this team of bio-engineers.

When the lab’s PI, Dr. Saad Bhamla, approached us about collaboration, we weren’t sure how to brand a lab with such a diverse research program. So we decided to make curiosity the focal point, and embrace the strange and wonderful things that follow.

curious, investigative, playful

The Bhamla Lab’s brand is imaginative and playful. Inspired by vintage circus signage and early 19th century curiosity cabinets, this brand celebrates curiosity and wonder for the interworkings of the natural world. For this project, we created a series of custom collages to help capture what we love about this bold lab group.
